Biography of Kim Dong-jin
Kim Dong-jin is a professional football player from South Korea. He was born in Tonduchhon, South Korea and began playing football at the age of 11 for his school team. Initially, he played as a forward, but later switched to the position of a full-back when he joined the South Korean national youth team.
After finishing school in 2000, Kim joined the professional club Ansan LG Cheetahs (now known as FC Seoul). Over the course of 7 years, he played in various positions including left-back, center-back, defensive and wing midfielder, as well as a forward. He played a total of 119 matches and scored 13 goals for the team.
In 2000, Kim became a champion of Korea, followed by being a runner-up and winner of the Korean Super Cup in 2001. In 2002, he won the silver medal in the AFC Champions League, and in 2004, he was recognized as the best left midfielder in the Korean league.
Kim is versatile and can play both as a left-back and center-back. In June 2006, he transferred to Zenit Saint Petersburg along with the national team coach, Dick Advocaat, and his national team partner, Lee Ho. In 2007, Kim won the Russian Premier League with Zenit and was included in the list of the top 33 players of the championship.
He has been called up to the South Korean national team since 2003 when the Portuguese coach Humberto Coelho took charge. Despite changes in the coaching staff over the years, Kim has consistently been selected for the national team. He has participated in the 2004 Olympic Games, the 2006 World Cup, the 2006 Asian Games, and the 2007 Asian Cup.
However, Kim missed out on a starting position in the 2007 Asian Cup under the guidance of the then coach, Pim Verbeek.
