Biography of Clara Hitler
Clara Hitler, born Clara Pölzl, was the mother of Adolf Hitler. She was born on August 12, 1860, in Leonding, Austria-Hungary, into a poor peasant family. From 1875, Clara was raised in the home of her second cousin Alois Hitler. When she turned 20, she moved to Vienna, where she worked as a maid.
Marriage and Children
In 1884, Clara returned to her hometown and married Alois Hitler after the death of his second wife. Alois was 23 years older than Clara, and she was already pregnant at the time of their marriage. They had five children together: Gustav, Ida, Adolf, Edmund, and Paula. Sadly, three of their children - Gustav, Ida, and Edmund - died at a young age. Adolf was Clara's favorite child, and being a devout woman, she dreamed that he would become a priest.
Quiet Life and Tragedy
Clara was known for her quiet and simple nature. Despite her husband's alcoholism, she managed to maintain a flawless household. After Alois' death in January 1903, Clara and her children moved to the outskirts of Linz in a suburb called Urfahr, where they lived on a small pension.
In 1907, Clara was diagnosed with breast cancer, which led her to be hospitalized in Linz. She passed away on December 21, 1907. Her death deeply affected Adolf Hitler, who had a strong affection for his mother.
