Konstantin Aleksandrovich Posse
Early Life and EducationKonstantin Aleksandrovich Posse was born in 1847. After completing his education at the 2nd Saint Petersburg Gymnasium, he enrolled in the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Saint Petersburg University, graduating in 1863 as a candidate.
Teaching Career
From 1871 to 1895, Posse taught higher mathematics at the Institute of Engineers of Communication Ways. He also briefly taught mathematics at women's colleges and the Saint Petersburg Technological Institute.
Academic Achievements
In 1873, Posse received his Master's degree from Saint Petersburg University for his research on "Functions Similar to Legendre Functions." He later became a private lecturer in analytical geometry at the university. In 1880, he was elected as a tenured associate professor.
In 1882, Posse obtained his Doctor of Mathematics degree for his dissertation on "Omega Functions with Two Variable Arguments." The following year, he was promoted to extraordinary professor and in 1886 to ordinary professor.
Contributions to Mathematics
Posse's students praised his ability to convey complex mathematical concepts clearly and accurately. In addition to the aforementioned research, he published numerous articles, including:
