Early Life and CareerKrzysztof Zbaraski was a Polish nobleman and diplomat who served as the Crown Equerry and Starost of Kremenets and Soletz. Little is known about his early life, but his rise to prominence began in 1609 when he participated in a military campaign against Moscow.
Diplomatic Mission to the Ottoman Empire
Zbaraski's diplomatic skills were recognized in 1622, when he was appointed as the Polish ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. During this mission, he played a crucial role in securing the release of Polish prisoners captured during the Battle of Cecora, including the prominent general Stanisław Koniecpolski. The embassy reportedly paid 30,000 thalers to ransom the captives.
Foundation of the Jesuit College in Vinnytsia
In addition to his diplomatic duties, Zbaraski was also a patron of education. He was instrumental in founding the Jesuit college in Vinnytsia, which became a renowned center of learning.
Brotherhood of Jerzy Zbaraski
Krzysztof Zbaraski had a close relationship with his brother, Jerzy Zbaraski, who was the last of the Zbaraski line. Jerzy passed away in 1631, leaving Krzysztof as the heir to the family estate.
