Biography of Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka

Ksenia Olegovna Lavrova-Glinka (formerly Lavrova) was born on October 14, 1977, in Kimry, Tver Oblast. She comes from a family with a strong theatrical background. Her grandfather served in the Drama and Comedy Theater, and her father, Oleg Alexeevich Lavrov, is a People's Artist of Russia and the artistic director of the Kimry Dramatic Theater. Despite growing up in an artistic environment, Ksenia initially did not seriously consider a career as an actress. She had various interests, but it was not until the end of school that she realized her true passion for the stage.

After finishing school, Ksenia Lavrova went to Moscow to pursue her acting career. She applied to several theater schools but was only accepted into the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio (MXAT). There, her talent was recognized, and she was enrolled in Oleg Tabakov's course. In 1998, Ksenia graduated from the MXAT School-Studio, but she did not join the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater. Instead, she found herself at the Et Cetera Theater under the direction of A.A. Kalyagin. When asked why this happened, the actress herself says, "There was no opportunity. That's how the stars aligned. I am actually grateful for this situation because it allowed me to gain a wealth of experience and understand what I had gained after five years." In the Et Cetera Theater, Ksenia performed in various productions, including "The Forced Doctor" (Martina), "The Sunburnt Lady of Sonnets" (Sunburnt Lady), "Competition" (Olga Pukhova), "Forever-Forever" (Girl #237), and "Don Quixote."

After several years, Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka crossed paths with the Moscow Art Theater again. In 2001, Vladimir Mashkov invited her to play the role of Jane in the production "No. 13." The collaboration was successful, and in 2005, Ksenia was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov, led by Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov. Some of her notable early works on this stage as a permanent actress include Dolly-Natasha in "The Sun Shone," Anninka and Lyubinka in "Gentlemen Golovlevs," Alimushkina in "The River Flows," and more.

It was at the Moscow Art Theater where Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka's talent shone in all its facets. Her breakthrough roles came in Anton Yakovlev's production of Tolstoy's "The Kreutzer Sonata" in 2008, where she played Polina, and in Kirill Serebrennikov's production of Brecht's "The Threepenny Opera" in 2009, where she portrayed Polly Peachum. In "The Threepenny Opera," a complex, deep, and somewhat scandalous production, Ksenia had the opportunity to showcase not only her acting skills but also her vocal abilities. She says, "Combining all of these elements was challenging. It required concentration on three components simultaneously. It is probably easier to just act or just sing, easier to focus on technical aspects, but harder to do it all together. When we stepped on stage, we realized how much attention, strength, and respect for each other it would require."

Among Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka's other notable works on the Moscow Art Theater stage are Varvara in "A Nest of the Gentry," Rashel in "Vassa Zheleznova," Vetrova in "The House," Katerina Ivanovna in "Crime and Punishment," and Alla Vadimovna in "Zoyka's Apartment." In addition to her theater career, Ksenia began acting in films in 2004, playing leading roles in the comedy-adventure series "Full Speed Ahead!" and the eight-episode film "Lola and the Marquis." She later appeared in movies such as "The Escape," "The Jubilee," "The Chiromancer 2," "Heavy Sand," "Montecristo," and others.

Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka's acting career has been diverse, both in terms of genres and the characters she has portrayed. She admits that she prefers kind and even naive films, saying, "I really want to play stories about people, their relationships, and simple life, precise and clear life." One such work was her role as journalist Ksenia Rakitina in the romantic drama film "Happiness by Contract" directed by Vladislav Nikolaev. Although the film was predictable, it was charming and had romantic elements, making it an easy and enjoyable watch.

The actress gained popularity through her appearances in high-rated TV series, such as "Zakrytaya Shkola" (Irina Isaeva, mother of Andrey, Nadya, and Igor), "Skifosovskiy" (psychiatrist Tatiana Zhulina), and "Once in Rostov" (Professor's wife Rita Kalyuzhnaya). In 2013, she played one of the main roles as Marina Beletskaya, the owner of a fashion boutique, in the melodramatic TV series "Shopping Mall." Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka also made an appearance in the famous music video "Believe Me" by Eurovision winner Dima Bilan, where she played the dramatic role of a disabled boy's mother.
