Biography of Lake Bell
Lake Bell Siegel, born Lake Caroline Siegel Bell on March 24, 1979, is an American actress. She was born in New York to Robin Bell, the owner of the design firm 'Robin Bell Design', and Harvey Siegel. Her father is of Jewish descent and her mother is a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant. Lake has an older brother named Luke Siegel, who manages the 'Raydoor' company, which sells sliding walls and doors in New York, as well as two step-sisters, Courtney and Mackenzie.
Education and Early Life
Lake studied at Chapin School in New York and Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut. She spent part of her youth in Vero Beach, Florida, where she attended St. Edward's School. She initially attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, and later transferred to Rose Bruford College in London. During her time in London, she played roles in theatrical productions, including 'The Seagull' and 'Three Sisters'. After completing her studies in college, Lake moved to Los Angeles after spending about a year in London.
Acting Career
Lake's first major project was the lead female role in NBC's 'War Stories' alongside Jeff Goldblum. In 2002, she had two guest roles in the series 'ER' and then landed the role of Victoria, the sharp-tongued best friend of Alicia Silverstone's character in the short-lived NBC series 'Miss Match'. In 2004, Lake made her debut in the series 'The Practice' as Sally Heep, and her character later moved to the spin-off series 'Boston Legal', where she became a regular member of the cast until the show's cancellation in 2005.
Lake played the lead role in the sci-fi series 'Surface', which aired in 2005 and was canceled in 2006. In the fall of 2006, she returned to 'Boston Legal' for two episodes, reprising her role as Sally Heep, who became Alan Shore's opponent portrayed by James Spader. Some of her notable film works include 'Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders', 'I Love Your Work', 'Speakeasy', and 'Slammed'. More recently, she starred in the film 'Pride and Glory' alongside Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, as well as the thriller 'Still Waters' with Jason Clarke and Clifton Collins Jr. She also appeared in the film 'Over Her Dead Body' with Paul Rudd and Eva Longoria Parker, and had a small role in 'What Happens in Vegas'.
