Laura Lopes: Childhood and Early Life
Laura Rose Lopes (née Parker Bowles) was born on January 1, 1978, in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. She was raised at Bolehyde Manor in Allington and later at Middlewick House in Corsham. Lopes was raised in the Catholic faith, along with her brother, Tom, who became a chef, food critic, and author.
Family Life and Parental Separation
Lopes' parents, Camilla and Andrew Parker Bowles, divorced in 1995 after 22 years of marriage. The separation and subsequent media attention surrounding her mother's affair with Prince Charles had a profound impact on Lopes. She reportedly resented Prince William and Harry for blaming Camilla for the breakdown of their parents' marriage.
Educational Background
Lopes attended St Mary's Shaftesbury, a Catholic boarding school for girls, in Dorset. She later joined her brother at Heywood Preparatory School in Corsham. Her higher education culminated in a degree in History of Art and Marketing from Oxford Brookes University.
Art Career and Curatorship
After graduating, Lopes interned at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Upon returning to London, she worked as a journalist for the Daily Mail and as a columnist for Tatler magazine. In 2005, she co-founded the Eleven Fine Art gallery in London, where she served as art curator for a decade.
Lopes has also held positions at the Space Gallery in Belgravia and most recently was involved in an exhibition in 2018. She has largely avoided the spotlight since the media scrutiny surrounding her mother's relationship with Prince Charles.
Marriage and Family
On May 6, 2006, Lopes married accountant Harry Lopes, a former Calvin Klein underwear model. They have three children: daughter Eliza (born January 16, 2008), and twins Gus and Louis (born 2009). Eliza served as a bridesmaid at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.
Husband's Lineage and Potential Inheritance
Lopes' husband, Harry Lopes, is the grandson of Massey Lopes, 2nd Baron Roborough. Through this lineage, Lopes may one day inherit Gnaton Hall in Devon and Skelpick Estate in Scotland.
Current Status
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, Lopes' mother became Queen Consort Camilla, but Lopes and her brother do not hold royal titles due to their lack of blood relation with Prince Charles. Despite this, she could potentially inherit a barony through her husband's lineage.
