Lauren Lappin: Olympic Softball Star and Stanford Standout

Lauren Lappin, a member of the United States national softball team, was born on June 26, 1984, in Anaheim, California, where she currently resides. The Beijing Summer Olympics will be the talented athlete's first competition at this level.

Early Life and Education

Lappin grew up in an athletic family. Her mother, Kelly, was an outfielder for Stanford, while her older sister, Sydney Wiggington, played softball for Santa Clara, and her brother, Bobby Wiggington, played baseball at Brown.

As a senior in high school, Lappin was named The Orange County Female Athlete of the Year in 2002. In high school, she excelled in both soccer and softball, becoming a champion in both sports during her four years of varsity play.

Lappin continued her success at Stanford University, where she was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, and Player of the Year in 2004. Her exceptional skills made her an integral part of the United States national team.

Olympic Dreams

Despite living in seven different homes within a five-mile radius by the age of 18, Lappin found joy in growing up near Disneyland, where she could watch the evening fireworks displays. This unique upbringing shaped the talented athlete she is today.

Winning the Olympics in Beijing is a major goal for Lappin, as it is for any athlete. However, she also sees her participation in the Olympics as a valuable experience that she can use in her future coaching career. Lappin is undoubtedly one of the top players on the United States national softball team.
