Archimandrite Lavrenty Krshanovich was a prominent figure in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a notable figure in the field of publishing.
Early Life and Monastic Career
Born in Ukraine, Krshanovich became a monk at the Trinity-Ilyinsky Monastery in Chernihiv. In 1685, he was appointed its abbot, and in 1697, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.
Role in Book Printing
Krshanovich played a significant role in the establishment and promotion of book printing in Ukraine. He petitioned Hetman Ivan Mazepa for a charter that would ensure the continued operation of a printing press at the Ilyinsky Monastery, which was granted in 1702.
