Early Life and Education

Lane Bobin was born on July 4, 1976, in Coronado, California. Growing up in Coronado, he excelled in water polo while struggling with other sports. After graduating high school, Bobin attended Stanford University, where he continued his water polo career with the university team. He graduated with a degree in 1999.

Water Polo Career

Bobin first participated in the Olympics in 2004, where the American men's team placed 7th. He competed in the 2006 FINA World League where he and his team secured 5th place and won the ASUA Cup in Brazil.

In 2007, Bobin helped the national team achieve 9th place at the FINA World Championships in Australia and 1st place at the Pan American Games in Brazil. The highlight of his career came in 2008 when he won a silver medal with the U.S. men's team at the Beijing Olympics.

International Playing Experience

Bobin became the first American to play professionally in the Hungarian National League. He also played in Greece and France. Currently, he is a member of the New York Athletic Club, one of the most prestigious water polo clubs in the United States.

Personal Life

In his free time, Bobin enjoys reading, researching, and writing short stories. He is a passionate traveler, having taken a year off from college to explore Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central America.

Bobin is a fan of Greek cuisine, the films "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Hatari!", and the actors Seymour Hoffman and Scarlett Johansson. His favorite music bands include Bad Brains, Fugazi, and Israel Vibration.
