Ukrainian Composer

Myroslav Skoryk is a renowned Ukrainian composer who currently resides in the United States.

Education and Early Career

Skoryk's musical journey began in 1951 when he enrolled in the prestigious Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where he initially pursued economics. However, his passion for music led him to pursue composition studies at the Kyiv Conservatory in 1954. He completed his master's degree in 1962, having studied under renowned composers Lev Revutsky and Boris Lyatoshynsky.

Teaching and Moscow

After graduating, Skoryk joined the faculty of the Kyiv Conservatory, teaching music theory and composition from 1966 to 1969. In 1981, he relocated to Moscow, where he became an editor for the renowned journal "Soviet Music" (later renamed "Musical Academy"). He also played an active role in the organization and membership of ACMa-2.

United States

In 1989, Skoryk moved to the United States at the invitation of the Ukrainian Musical Society. He settled in Brooklyn, New York, where he continued to compose and nurture his musical legacy. In 2005, he relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey.
