Birth and Early Life

Lucette Dufour, better known as Luce Dufault, was born on August 19, 1966, in Cornwall, Ontario, a Francophone region of Canada. Despite a challenging early life, Dufault discovered her extraordinary vocal talent at a young age.

Musical Beginnings

By the age of 15, Dufault joined the band "Stable Mates" and began performing blues in Montreal bars. Her impressive voice caught the attention of rock star Roch Voisine, leading to a three-month European tour as a backing vocalist in 1990.

Breakthrough with "La Legende de Jimmy"

In 1992, Dufault's career took a pivotal turn when she was cast in the title role of "La Legende de Jimmy," a rock opera written by Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger. Her performance alongside Bruno Pelletier earned her widespread recognition and set the stage for her future success.

Debut Album and Family Responsibilities

Upon returning to Quebec, Dufault released her debut album, featuring a mix of ballads and rock anthems. However, her work was briefly interrupted by the birth of her daughter, Lunou. Dufault prioritized her family, placing her career on hold.

Emergence of "Des Milliards de Choses"

In 1998, Dufault made a triumphant return with her sophomore album, "Des Milliards de Choses." It showcased a diverse sound, combining psychedelic influences with introspective lyrics that highlighted her vulnerability and strength.

A Second Album and Motherhood Interlude

Dufault's second pregnancy prompted her to put her career on hold again in 2000. After the birth of her son, Mika, she promised to release a new album in 2001. "Au-dela des Mots" featured upbeat and melodic tracks, reflecting her optimistic outlook.

"Bleu" and Critical Acclaim

Dufault's fourth album, "Bleu," released in 2004, garnered universal critical acclaim. While the lyrics conveyed a sense of hope, they also delved into themes of loneliness, loss, and the fragility of life. The album's standout track, "Je voudrais," became a poignant reflection on the passage of time.

Subsequent Projects and Charitable Endeavors

From 2004 to 2006, Dufault participated in the rock opera "Daniel Boum" and embarked on a tour with her "Bleu" repertoire. In 2010, she joined forces with other Quebec artists for the "Ensemble pour Haïti" benefit concert following the devastating earthquake.
