Early Career and Rise in Brazil

Luis Fabiano Clemente began his football career with São Paulo in his native Brazil. Showcasing his strength, precision, and mobility, he played a pivotal role in the team reaching the semi-finals of the 2004 Copa Libertadores. However, Fabiano also gained a reputation for his fiery temper, engaging in fights and controversies on the field.

Move to Europe and Success with Sevilla

In 2004, Fabiano transferred to Porto in Portugal for a reported fee of €10 million. However, he struggled to find his footing in his first season, scoring only three goals in 22 appearances. This led to his move to Sevilla in Spain, where his fortunes changed.

On May 10, 2006, Fabiano scored a memorable header in the UEFA Cup final against Middlesbrough. His prolific form continued in the following season, netting 24 goals, second only to Dani Güiza's 27. His success earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team.

International Success and Controversies

Fabiano made his international debut for Brazil on June 11, 2003, against Nigeria, scoring in his first game. He was part of Brazil's squad for the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup but did not make an appearance. In 2004, Fabiano helped Brazil win the Copa América, starting alongside fellow striker Adriano in all five matches.

However, his conflicts with Porto and Sevilla led to three years of exclusion from the national team. He was recalled in November 2007 and has since established himself in the starting lineup. On November 19, 2008, Fabiano scored his first international hat-trick in a friendly match against Portugal.

Culmination of Success

Fabiano played a key role in Brazil's victory in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, scoring twice in the final against the United States and winning the Golden Boot award with five goals. At the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he scored a controversial goal against Ivory Coast, using his hand twice in the process.

Throughout his career, Fabiano has scored 27 goals for Brazil, establishing himself as a prolific goalscorer on the international stage.
