Luis La Puerta was a Peruvian military and political figure.Service as Provisional President
During the outbreak of the Second Pacific War, President Mariano Ignacio Prado left Peru for Europe to purchase weapons. In Prado's absence, La Puerta was appointed as interim president. However, his presidency lasted only four days.
Overthrow and Arrest
La Puerta's presidency was cut short by a coup d'état led by Nicolás de Piérola. Piérola seized power and arrested La Puerta, who was later imprisoned.
