Early Life and Career
Madalyn Godby, an American track cyclist, has represented the United States in numerous international competitions.
National Titles
Godby has enjoyed a successful career at the national level, winning seven US championships between 2011 and 2017. Notably, she captured the team sprint titles in 2011 with Elizabeth Carlson Rip and in 2012 with Tela Crane. In 2015, she triumphed in both the national sprint and 500m time trial.
Pan American Successes
Godby's accomplishments extend to the Pan American Championships. In 2016, she partnered with Mandy Marquardt to secure the bronze medal in the team sprint. The following year, Godby and Marquardt became Pan American champions in the same event.
World Championships
On the world stage, Godby has demonstrated her prowess in the keirin. She claimed gold at the 2017/18 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Santiago, Chile, and repeated her triumph at the 2018/19 edition in Milton, Canada.
Olympic Aspirations
In 2021, Godby earned a berth to represent her country in the sprint and keirin at the Tokyo Olympics.
Doping Suspicion
In 2013, Godby's third-place finish in the 500m time trial at the Pan American Championships raised suspicion due to a positive result for clenbuterol. However, the levels were extremely low, and the incident was attributed to contaminated meat consumed at the event's hotel dining facility. As a result, her time trial results were nullified, but no further sanctions were imposed.
