Magauiya Äuezüly

Magauiya Äuezüly was a renowned Kazakh poet and a prominent figure in the poetic school founded by his father, Abay Qunanbayūly.

Early Life and Education

Born as the youngest son of Abay, Magauiya received his initial education from a village mullah. Later, his father enrolled him in a Russian town school in Semipalatinsk. However, after three years, Abay had him return home due to health concerns. In the village, Magauiya immersed himself in reading books in both Russian and Eastern languages.

Literary Career

Encouraged by his father, Magauiya began writing poems, drawing inspiration from European poetry. He penned notable works such as the epic poems "Yenlik-Kebek" (1890), "Abylai," and "Medgat-Qasym." Additionally, he is known for his lost manuscript of "Shamil."

Collaborative Efforts

Magauiya assisted his father in his duties as a volost headman. He also served as a mentor to his younger siblings, including the famous writer Abdrakhman (Abish).
