Biography of Manish Arora

Manish Arora, an Indian fashion designer based in New Delhi, is currently the Director of Women's Wear at the popular French fashion house, Paco Rabanne. Considered one of the best designers in India, he is often referred to as the "Indian John Galliano". Arora is known for his vibrant and psychedelic clothing, which combines traditional Indian art with Western forms and silhouettes.

Early Life and Education

Manish Arora was born and raised in Bombay. Initially, he planned to pursue a career in the commercial industry but later changed his mind and enrolled in the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi. He completed his education in 1994 and was recognized as the top student.

Career

In 1997, Arora established his own fashion label and started actively trading in India. Within three years, he represented his country at the Hong Kong Fashion Week and later participated in the first India Fashion Week held in New Delhi. Arora launched his second label, "Fish Fry," a year later, and his collections are now showcased in six major cities in India and sold in the renowned New York store, "Lord & Taylor."

In 2002, Arora opened his first flagship store, "Manish Arora Fish Fry," in New Delhi, followed by a second store in Mumbai. His designs gained additional exposure after a successful appearance at the India Fashion Week, leading to the sale of his garments in Parisian stores like "Maria Luisa."

Arora's talent was recognized in 2004 at the Indian Fashion Awards, where he was named the best designer for ready-to-wear women's clothing. The following year, he exhibited his collection at the Miami Fashion Week and received another award for the best collection according to designers. In September of the same year, Arora made a highly successful appearance at the London Fashion Week, receiving praise from fashion journalists and buyers.

In 2005, Arora signed a contract with "Reebok" and released a footwear line under his label, "Fish Fry". In 2006, he organized another successful fashion show that garnered positive reviews from renowned fashion journalists.

Arora's creations began selling in 75 major global retailers, including "Harrods", "Dover StreetMarket", "Maria Luisa", and "Saks Dubai". In 2007, the first joint store of "Fish Fry" and "Reebok" opened in New Delhi. Arora then secured partnerships with cosmetic giant "MAC" and watch company "Swatch".

Currently, Arora's main project revolves around the collaboration between "Fish Fry" and "Reebok", although he continues to dedicate time to his own collections. His designs are now available in 84 major global stores, solidifying his position as one of India's top fashion designers.
