Early Career

Marcelo Melo started his professional career in 1998 and specialized in men's doubles. In 2007, he won his first ATP tournament in Estoril, partnering with Andre Sa. Later that year, they reached the semifinals of the Wimbledon tournament, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. They also made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open that same year.

Success with Andre Sa

From 2008 to 2009, Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa achieved success together, winning four tournaments. They emerged victorious in Costa do Sauipe, Pörtschach, Kitzbühel, and Nice.
