Biography of Marchese Emilio Pucci di Barsento
Marchese Emilio Pucci di Barsento, born on November 20 in Naples, Italy, had a diverse career before becoming a renowned fashion designer. He initially studied politics and served as a pilot during World War II. After the war, he worked as a pilot for passenger airlines.

In 1947, Pucci was discovered by a fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar as a fashion model while skiing in a suit he had personally designed. His ski suit, featuring new tapered pants, gained popularity and was produced in the United States. Inspired by this success, Pucci opened his own studio in Florence in 1949 and presented his first women's summer collection on the island of Capri.

In 1950, Pucci introduced a collection of sportswear for skiing, golf, and tennis. His Capri pants, complemented by loose blouses, silk scarves with vibrant colors and new patterns, soon became widely recognized as "Pucci Patterns." He continued to innovate and in 1958, he focused on improving stretch fabrics for sport pants. He introduced elastic Shantung silk, which became popular for form-fitting pants and bodysuits.

After a period of relative obscurity, Pucci regained popularity in 1985 due to a renewed interest in colors, patterns, leggings, and bodysuits. During his career, Pucci also ventured into the fragrance industry, creating scents such as Vivara (1965), Signor Vivara (1970), Miss Zadig, Monsieur Zadig (1971), and Pucci (1980).
Emilio Pucci passed away on November 30, 1992, in Florence. His daughter, Laudomia, took over as the company's leader, continuing the Pucci legacy.
