Early Life and Career

Born Marie-Louise Marcelle Tully in a small town in Orne, France, on May 3, 1905, Marie Glory began her acting career in 1924, adopting the pseudonym Arlette Jenny.

Breakthrough Roles

In 1928, she took on the stage name Marie Glory and starred in Marcel L'Herbier's "Money," alongside renowned German actress Brigitte Helm. She followed up with a significant role in "The Count of Monte Cristo" a year later.

Silent Film Era

Marie Glory made her debut in a sound film in 1930 with "Le Roi de Paris," featuring Serbian actor Ivan Petrovich. Throughout the 1930s, she continued to work extensively in French cinema until her career gradually waned by the end of the decade.

Later Career

Despite her earlier retirement, Glory returned to the screen in the 1950s with roles in Italian and French films. Her final performance was in a television show in 1964.

Legacy and Passing

Marie Glory died in Cannes on January 24, 2009, at the age of 104, becoming one of the oldest actresses in the world to have appeared in the silent film era.
