Education and Professional CareerMarija Vučković was born on July 3, 1974, in Mostar, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina). She earned her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Zagreb in 1997 and completed her master's degree from the same institution in 2002. In 2012, she was appointed as a lecturer at the University of Dubrovnik.
Vučković's professional career began in the marketing department of the Port of Ploče in 1998. She subsequently rose through the ranks to become the Head of the Commercial Department from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2004 and 2005 to 2009, she held the position of Head of the Commercial and Financial Department for Petroleum Products. Between 2004 and 2005, she served as an advisor to the Office of International Economic Cooperation within the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Political Career
From 2009 to 2016, Vučković was the Deputy Governor of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. In 2016, she was appointed as the Assistant Minister for Regional Development and European Union Funds. Later that year, she was named State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture.
In July 2019, Vučković was appointed as the Minister of Agriculture in the first cabinet of Andrej Plenković, following a real estate scandal. She retained her portfolio in the second Plenković cabinet, which was formed after the 2020 Croatian parliamentary election.
Affiliations and Personal Life
Vučković is a member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). She is fluent in English.
