Biography of Mark Galesnikov
Early Life and Education
Mark Galesnikov is a Soviet and Israeli Russian-language writer, satirist, playwright, and poet. He completed his studies in the Faculty of Playwriting at the Literary Institute and lived in Leningrad for many years.
Move to Israel
In 1990, Galesnikov relocated to Israel and settled in the suburb of Mevaseret Zion, near Jerusalem. He became well-known for his literary works in both Israel and Russia.
Literary Career
Galesnikov's literary works include 15 plays, such as "Obsessed" and several other works that have been performed in various theaters in Russia, Germany, and Israel. He has also authored nine books, including "In the Root," a collection of political satirical essays about the realities of Israel in the years 2006-2007, "In the Tangle of Events: An Inconclusive Commentary on the Torah," "Editor's Corner: Selected Poems from the Satirical Weekly 'Beseder?'," and the satirical novel "Prophets 48," among others. Galesnikov is also known for his regular column "In the Root" in the newspaper "Russian Germany."
