Mark Hardy, a 49-year-old British man, once weighed nearly 450 pounds (202 kg). For years, he indulged in excessive consumption of chips, hamburgers, and other fast food items. His unhealthy dietary habits led to the development of a serious metabolic condition known as type 2 diabetes.
Diagnosis and Wake-Up Call
At the age of 31, Hardy was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The diagnosis, coupled with the doctor's candid warning, became a wake-up call. Realizing the severity of his condition, he resolved to abandon his unhealthy 6,000-calorie-a-day diet.
Embracing a Healthier Lifestyle
Hardy embarked on a transformative journey, changing his diet and joining a gym. At his heaviest, he wore 6XL shirts and oversized trousers, with a waist circumference of 58 inches (147 cm). However, his determination led him to lose 25 inches (63.5 cm) from his waist and shed a staggering 253 pounds (114 kg) over a year and a half.
Unhealthy Eating Habits in the Past
Prior to his transformation, Hardy's daily routine included a bowl of cornflakes with seven spoonfuls of sugar for breakfast, followed by fish and chips for lunch and three Big Macs with a strawberry milkshake for dinner. He also consumed 24 bags of chips, a packet of cookies, and six two-liter bottles of soda each day.
Breaking the Sugar Addiction
Despite being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, Hardy continued to indulge in sweet treats. His blood sugar levels, which should have been between 4-7 mmol/L, frequently soared to 33 mmol/L. He would often wake up at night to satisfy his cravings for soda, which was a constant companion throughout the day.
A Doctor's Warning and a Change of Heart
Around 18 months ago, Hardy's doctor delivered a stark warning: if he did not lose weight, he would likely die prematurely. This realization prompted him to seek help.
Joining the Gym and Finding Support
Hardy joined a local gym and met with personal trainer Gary, who helped him create a new diet and introduced him to high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
Hard Work and Transformation
Hardy's hard work paid off. Not only did he lose the excess weight, but he also felt healthier and happier. Moreover, his diabetes was reversed.
A Newfound Lease on Life
Today, Hardy is proud of his accomplishments. He has regained his energy and feels lighter. His suicidal thoughts are gone, and he can stand for extended periods without feeling faint. The 20-meter distance that once took him over an hour to complete now takes just a couple of minutes.

Hardy expresses his gratitude to Gary and shares his story to inspire others. He believes that if he could change his life, anyone can. His wife is also overjoyed to see him in the best shape of his life.
