Early Life and Education

Mary Lea Trump was born into a family of privilege as the daughter of Linda Clapp, a flight attendant, and Fred Trump Jr., a pilot for Trans World Airlines. She is the sister of Frederick Trump III. After graduating from Ethel Walker School in 1983, Mary pursued English literature at Tufts University. She earned a master's degree in the same field from Columbia University, specializing in the works of William Faulkner. Her doctoral studies at Adelphi University's Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies resulted in a doctorate in clinical psychology.

Career in Psychology and Coaching

Trump began her career at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center while completing her doctoral research. She co-authored the book, "Diagnosis: Schizophrenia," published by Columbia University Press in 2002. Her graduate education also focused on developmental psychology and psychopathology. She is the founder and CEO of the Trump Coaching Group, which specializes in coaching. Trump has also owned and operated several small businesses in the Northeast.

Controversial Memoir: "Too Much and Never Enough"

In 2020, Trump published "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man," a highly anticipated memoir that became an instant bestseller. The book details Trump's family relationships, particularly her uncle, former President Donald Trump. Despite facing lawsuits, a federal appeals court allowed the book's publication.

Personal Life and Orientation

Trump openly identifies as LGBTQ+ in her book and recalls her grandmother's disapproval of homosexuality. This led her to remain closeted for a time. She later married a woman and they raised a daughter together. The marriage ended in divorce. Trump currently resides on Long Island, New York with her daughter.

Conflict with the Trump Family

After the death of her grandfather, Fred Trump Sr., in 1999, Mary and her brother, Fred III, challenged his will. Trump Sr. had left the bulk of his fortune equally among his living children, while grandchildren received $200,000 each. Trump Sr.'s attorneys had recommended amending the will to provide larger shares for Mary and Fred III after their father's untimely death.

Mary and Fred III later sued Donald Trump and two of his three surviving siblings, alleging that the medical trust that had been paying for their son's medical expenses was no longer doing so. The suit was settled in 2001, but the final settlement did not provide them with the share that their father would have inherited if he had been alive.

Political Views and Activism

Trump endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election and has since publicly called for her uncle's removal from office. She believes that Donald Trump is "utterly incapable of leading this country" and represents a danger to the nation.
