Early Life and Education
Elżbieta Witek was born in Warsaw, Poland. She is the great-great-granddaughter of former Polish President Stanisław Wojciechowski and Prime Minister Władysław Grabski. Her parents were professor Maciej Władysław Grabski and Helena Grabska. In 1983, Witek graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology of the University of Warsaw.
Film Production Career
In the late 1980s, Witek worked in the literary department of the Karol Irzykowski Film Studio. From 1994 to 2005, she served as a film producer for Gambit Production.
Political Career
Witek entered politics in 2005, when she was elected to the Sejm (lower house of Polish parliament) on the Civic Platform list. She has since been re-elected on four occasions.

In 1980, Witek attended the filming of the movie "Coup d'Etat" about the May 1926 events in which her great-great-grandfather participated. She met Ryszard Gontarz, a screenwriter and former member of the security forces of the Polish People's Republic. A photograph of them together was later used as political material against the Civic Platform party.
