From Sniper to Strongman: The Unstoppable Journey of Matt Coleman
Born with a Heart DefectMatt Coleman, a 31-year-old from Peterborough, was born with a congenital heart defect. Despite his condition, he pursued a career as a Royal Air Force sniper.

Military Career Truncated
In 2014, Coleman's heart defect manifested itself in a heart attack, forcing him to leave the RAF. The diagnosis shattered his dreams of a lifelong military career.

Fitness Journey
To cope with his disappointment, Coleman turned to the gym, visiting up to six times a week. His dedication paid off as he doubled his weight to 120 kilograms.

A Second Heart Attack
In 2015, just days after proposing to his girlfriend on a romantic trip to Bali, Coleman suffered a second heart attack. He was flown back to England for further treatment.

Strongman Arena
Despite his heart condition, Coleman refused to give up. Inspired by his friend, he began to pursue strongman competitions, where he found a sense of purpose similar to his military past.
Medical Support
While physicians acknowledged the risks, they did not advise Coleman against pursuing strongman competitions. His sister, a doctor, encouraged him to embrace his passion.
Unwavering Determination
Coleman's determination has driven him to become a successful strongman, competing throughout the United Kingdom and achieving his first victory in his hometown.
Life Beyond Strongman
Today, Coleman lives with his fiancée, Chrissma Samworth, and they plan to expand their family. Their wedding is set for December 2016. Coleman credits Chrissma with his personal growth and support.
