Matt Drudge is an American journalist and columnist, best known as the creator of the popular news website "Drudge Report." He was born on October 27, 1966, in Tahoma Park, Maryland, USA. His parents, who were liberal-minded, worked in the federal government. They divorced when Matt was six years old, and he remained with his mother. He attended Northwood High School and in 1981, after being arrested for harassing phone calls and undergoing rehabilitation, he moved to live with his father in Maryland. However, he did not stay there for long and soon returned to his mother.

In 1989, Matt Drudge relocated to Los Angeles, where he rented a small room and purchased a computer. He initially sold t-shirts and other merchandise at a souvenir kiosk for CBS in Hollywood. Meanwhile, he began building the foundations of his unique online information empire by sending out snippets of gossip and rumors via email. This eventually led to the creation of the "Drudge Report," which quickly gained popularity.

By collecting information from various subscribers to his website, Matt Drudge compiled questionable facts and second-tier news stories. The majority of the information was related to political figures. The site's popularity grew rapidly. According to Drudge himself, his news reports contained 80% truth, which was occasionally confirmed by facts. For example, the "Drudge Report" was the first to reveal the connection between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, even before this information reached the mainstream media.

However, most of the gossip from the "Drudge Report" has questionable sources and lacks solid foundations and verifications. Consequently, Drudge often finds himself debunking his own rumors. Despite this, Matt Drudge has a large army of fans who financially support him in legal battles and investigations. His popularity is widespread, even appearing on TV. In 1999, he briefly hosted a show called "Drudge" on Fox News Channel, which aired until 2001. He also had a radio program, "Sunday Night Talk Radio Show," on Premiere Radio Networks, and made appearances on "The Savage Nation."
