Biography of Matthew Modine
Matthew Modine, an American actor, was born on March 22, 1959, in Loma Linda, California. He first discovered his passion for acting at the age of ten when he watched a documentary about the making of the film "Oliver!" Inspired by the young actors and their performances, Matthew decided to pursue a career in acting.

Early Career
When his family moved to Provo, Utah, Matthew independently enrolled in a local dance school. During his sophomore year at Maeser Vista Junior High, he participated in the production of "Our Town," where he played the role of George Gibbs.

Move to New York
After completing high school, Matthew moved to New York City to further his acting career. It was there that he began studying under the legendary acting coach Stella Adler.

Breakthrough Role
Matthew Modine made his film debut in 1983 in the movie "Baby, It's You." In the same year, director Robert Altman cast Matthew as David Raynes in the film "Streamers," for which he received a prize for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.
Worldwide Recognition
In 1985, Harold Becker noticed Matthew's talent and offered him a role in the film "Vision Quest." His portrayal of Louden Swain brought him worldwide fame. Then, in 1987, Matthew was invited to play the role of the Joker in Stanley Kubrick's anti-war film "Full Metal Jacket."
