Loan Spells and Maturation
In 2003, Cassani was loaned to Sampdoria, but his playing time was limited due to the presence of established defenders. After a brief return to Juventus, he was subsequently loaned to Verona for three seasons, where he became a regular starter and earned the nickname "Zambrotta Jr."
Rise with Palermo
In 2006, Cassani joined Palermo and quickly established himself as a key player, helping the team achieve a fifth-place finish in Serie A during his first season. He scored his debut goal against his former club, Juventus, in the following campaign. Cassani extended his contract with Palermo in 2008 and reached the milestone of 100 appearances for the club in 2009.
