Jean Max: A French Racing Prodigy
Jean Max was a French racing driver who competed in the Formula 1 World Championship. His unique name often led to his entry being erroneously recorded as "Jean Max."
Early Career
Max began his racing career in local rallies in 1964. From 1965 to 1967, he competed in Formula 3 and in 1968, he made his only 24-Hours of Le Mans appearance, retiring just three hours into the race.
Formula Ford and Formula 3 Success
After winning the French Formula Ford Championship in 1968, Max returned to Formula 3, where he earned three podium finishes over two seasons.
Formula 2 and Formula 1
In 1970-72, Max competed sporadically in the European Formula 2 Championship with limited success. He also participated in the 1971 French Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship, finishing 14th and nine laps behind the winner, failing to qualify for the official results.
Retirement and Business Venture
After a few more Formula 3 races in 1973, Max retired from racing and embarked on a business venture, establishing his own transportation company.
