Biography of Michael Anthony Tucker

Early Life and Education

Michael Anthony Tucker, born on June 25, 1971, is an American baseball player. He attended Longwood College starting in 1989 and completed his education in 1992. In November 2005, Tucker was elected to the inaugural class of the Longwood Athletics Hall of Fame, along with basketball player Jerome Kersey and golfer Tina Barrett.

Professional Career

After college, Tucker began his professional baseball career in 1993, starting in the minor leagues. He spent most of his first season with the Wilmington Blue Rocks before moving up to the Memphis Chicks (now West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx) in the Southern League. In 1994, Tucker advanced to the Triple-A league, playing for the Omaha Royals in the American Association. This successful career progression led him to the Major League Baseball and the Kansas City Royals.

Throughout his career, Tucker played for various teams including the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and New York Mets. In 2005, Tucker played for the San Francisco Giants but was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in August of that year. He joined the Phillies during the playoff race, although his playing time was limited due to already having played several games. On January 9, 2006, Tucker agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals. His contract was then purchased by the New York Mets on August 9. On May 17, 2007, Tucker signed another contract, this time with the Boston Red Sox, but it ended prematurely in July of the same year.
