Biography of Michael Grant

Michael Grant is an American professional boxer who competes in the heavyweight division. He made his debut in 1994 and quickly rose to prominence in the late 1990s with significant victories over Lionel Butler, Alfred Cole, David Izon, Obed Sullivan, and Lou Savarese. These wins earned him the right to compete in an eliminator bout.

In November 1999, Grant faced Polish-born heavyweight contender Andrew Golota in a qualifying match for a shot at the world heavyweight title. Golota dominated the fight, knocking Grant down twice in the first round. However, in the 10th round, Grant managed to knock Golota down, and to the surprise of everyone, Golota decided to quit, telling the referee that he did not want to continue.

On April 29th, 2000, Grant faced British world champion Lennox Lewis at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Lewis aggressively attacked Grant from the start and knocked him down three times in the first round and once in the second. At the end of the second round, Lewis landed a powerful uppercut that resulted in a knockout victory for him.

In July 2001, Grant fought Jamil McClain, and the fight ended in the first round when McClain landed a right cross to Grant's jaw, sending him to the canvas. Grant fell awkwardly, injuring his leg. When the fight resumed, McClain tried to finish off Grant in a flurry of attacks, but Grant tried to clinch. After the referee separated them, Grant informed him about his injured leg, leading to the referee stopping the fight. Commentators speculated that Grant's leg was broken.

In April 2004, Grant faced undefeated Dominic Guinn. The fight predominantly took place at close range, with both boxers engaging in numerous clinches. In the third round, Guinn landed a left hook to Grant's chin, resulting in a knockdown. Grant managed to get up but was knocked down again early in the fourth round. Although Grant stood up once more, the referee stopped the fight. Guinn's punches had taken their toll, and Grant was unable to continue.

Despite his setbacks, Michael Grant had a successful boxing career and competed against some of the best heavyweights of his time. He displayed great resilience and determination inside the ring, making him a formidable opponent.
