Early Life and Career
Born into a poor peasant family, Korniychuk joined the Komsomol (Young Communist League) in 1922. He rose through the ranks, holding positions as head of the district executive committee and secretary of the district council of people's education. In 1926, he became a member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Education and Professional Experience
From 1932 to 1936, Korniychuk studied at the Kharkiv Road Institute. After graduating, he worked as an engineer on the Southern Railway for two years. In 1938, he joined the executive committee of the Kharkiv Regional Soviet and later became the First Secretary of the Zhytomyr Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (Bolsheviks).
Political Ascension
Korniychuk's political career reached its peak when he was elected to the Politburo (later Presidium) of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (Bolsheviks) in 1939. From 1939 to 1954, he served as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR).
Post-Presidency Roles
After stepping down as Chairman of the Presidium, Korniychuk held various positions in the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1966, he retired as a personal pensioner.
Legacy and Honors
Korniychuk is remembered as a prominent Ukrainian and Soviet political figure. He played a significant role in the political and economic development of Ukraine. He was awarded numerous honors, including three Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, and other orders and medals.
