IntroductionMichaël Herck is a Belgian-Romanian racing driver who is currently competing for the David Price Racing team, which was acquired by his father, Andre, in April 2009.
Early Career
After starting his racing career in karting, Herck moved on to Formula Renault Monza Winter Series in 2003 and competed in the main series the following year. In 2004, he won the championship, earning five victories and 375 points. He also participated in the Italian and Belgian 1.6-litre series in 2004 and won his first championship.
Formula 3 and GP2
In 2005, Herck made the transition to Formula 3, winning the Austrian championship. He also competed in the British and German championships that year. In 2006, he joined the Euroseries Formula 3, racing for compatriot Bas Leinders' team. He scored 12 points and finished the season in 15th place in the drivers' standings.
In 2008, Herck made his debut in the GP2 Asia series, racing for FMS International. However, he suffered a wrist fracture and had to miss the final round of the season. He had planned to compete in the main GP2 series that year, but his wrist injury led to his replacement by Giacomo Ricci in the David Price Racing team. After two rounds of the championship, Ricci was then replaced by Andy Soucek.
Herck finally made his GP2 debut in Manicure, France. He continued to race for DPR in the 2008-09 GP2 Asia season and the 2009 GP2 season. In order to gain experience before the GP2 finale, Herck also participated in the first round of the 2009 Formula 3000 Euroseries at the Algarve Circuit.
