Biography of Michael Jaharis
Early Life and EducationMichael Jaharis was born in New York, United States. He is a qualified specialist who graduated from Carroll College Wisconsin with an honorary bachelor's degree in Science and Arts. He pursued further education at DePaul University, where he obtained an honorary doctorate in Jurisprudence.
Entrepreneurship and Success
Michael Jaharis initially worked as a military doctor in the Korean War and later joined the trading office of Miles Laboratories. In 1972, he and his partner acquired Key Pharmaceuticals, a small company specializing in pharmaceutical sales. Under their leadership, the company flourished, with sales increasing from two million dollars to two hundred million dollars, primarily from the sales of cardiovascular medications and asthma treatments.
Emeritus Kos Pharmaceuticals
In 1986, the company was sold to Schering-Plough for 836 million dollars. A few years later, Kos Pharmaceuticals was launched with a 200 million dollar investment in developing medications to normalize cholesterol levels. The corporation was recently acquired by Abbott Labs for approximately four and a half billion dollars. Today, Emeritus Kos Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a prominent pharmaceutical organization and one of the most significant in the country.
Current Involvements
Michael Jaharis currently serves as the director of the company and is one of its major shareholders, holding a controlling stake. In addition to his active entrepreneurship in the pharmaceutical industry, he is involved in various other activities. He serves as a trustee of Tufts University and is the chairman of the board of Tufts University School of Medicine.
