Biography of Michael James McDonald

Michael James McDonald, an American actor, writer, and director, was born in 1964 in Fullerton, California. Growing up, McDonald never imagined becoming an actor until one day a friend invited him to watch a comedy show at the famous Groundling Theatre. Prior to this, McDonald completed his education at Servite High School in Anaheim and went on to earn a degree in economics from the University of Southern California. He then began working at a bank in Los Angeles, specializing in loans.

However, after attending the life-changing comedy show, McDonald decided to leave his job and pursue a career in the theater. If he had a work history, his occupation would have changed from "credit department employee" to "actor in the comedy troupe of Groundling Theatre." He joined the troupe in 1992 and remained a member until 1997. During this time, McDonald also started his television career, appearing in shows such as "Family Matters" and "Seinfeld." By the mid-1990s, he had already accumulated nearly twenty screen roles.

One of McDonald's most notable and acclaimed television projects was the long-running comedy show "Mad TV." He joined the cast in 1998 and remained with the show for ten seasons. Here, McDonald had the opportunity to showcase his full creative potential. In addition to acting, he also directed and wrote for the show. He contributed to the scripts of movies such as "Red Baron's Revenge," "Welcome to Planet Earth," "Alien Avengers II," and several others. In the film "Crazy Nanny," McDonald not only wrote the screenplay but also directed the movie.

Throughout his career, McDonald has played more than sixty acting roles, although most of them have been minor. He appeared in all three versions of the film "Austin Powers." Some of the television shows featuring McDonald include "Passions," "Greg the Bunny," "Clone High," "Desperate Housewives," "My Boys," "Kath & Kim," "Scrubs," and many others. McDonald has received two nominations for the Writers Guild of America Award for his work on "MADtv."
