Biography of Michael McIntyre
Michael McIntyre is an English stand-up comedian who gained a reputation as the highest-paid comedian in the world in 2012. He has released three DVDs, including 'Live and Laughing', 'Hello Wembley', and 'Showtime', which have sold over 3,000,000 copies in the UK.
Comedy Career
In addition to his stand-up comedy, McIntyre hosted his own show, 'Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow', on BBC One and appeared on three episodes of 'Live at the Apollo'. In 2011, he served as a judge on the talent competition 'Britain's Got Talent'. McIntyre has also been involved in various segments of Comic Relief, a British charity, in both 2011 and 2013.
Early Life and Family
Michael McIntyre was born on February 21, 1976, in London. He currently resides in Wiltshire with his wife Kitty McIntyre, a professional aromatherapist. Kitty is the daughter of actor Simon Ward and the sister of actress Sophie Ward. The couple got married in 2003 and has two sons, Lucas (born in 2005) and Oscar (born in 2008). McIntyre's father, Ray Cameron, was a Canadian comedian who wrote scripts and jokes for Kenny Everett's television shows. McIntyre's mother, Kati, has Hungarian roots.
Education and Early Career
McIntyre attended prestigious private schools for boys, including three years at Merchant Taylors' School in Northwood. However, due to financial reasons, he completed his final years at the local state school, Woodhouse College. He then spent a year at the University of Edinburgh but left to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. McIntyre has stated that he cannot remember if he studied chemistry or biology during his time in Edinburgh.
Television Appearances and Success
One of McIntyre's earliest television appearances was on the show 'Steve Chisholm's A-Z of Extraordinary Sexual Fetishes' in 2005, where he discussed tweed as a fetish. From 2007 to 2009, he made three appearances on 'Live at the Apollo'. Personal Life
McIntyre is a fan of the football club 'Tottenham Hotspur'. In December 2009, he had to cancel a performance upon learning that he would be performing in front of debt collectors. Just days before, he had revealed that he had struggled to make ends meet and pay off a significant debt before achieving success. McIntyre released his autobiography, 'Life and Laughing: My Story', in 2010.
