Miguel Amado is an Uruguayan footballer who has left an indelible mark on the history of the sport, particularly within his homeland.
Club Career
Amado's career took off in 2002 when he joined Defensor Sporting, a club he has remained loyal to throughout his professional career. With Defensor, he has taken part in numerous international tournaments, making significant contributions to their successes. In 2007, the team reached the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, only to be defeated in a penalty shootout by eventual finalist Gremio of Brazil. Later that year, Defensor reached the quarterfinals of the South American Cup, narrowly missing out on a semifinal berth due to fewer goals scored away from home against River Plate of Argentina.
In 2008, Amado played a key role in Defensor's third Uruguayan league triumph in the club's history. His performances for his club caught the attention of the Uruguayan national team, leading to his international debut in 2009.
International Career
Amado's international debut came on June 10, 2009, in a World Cup qualifying match against Venezuela. He played the entire match as a starter. He also represented his country in a friendly against Algeria.
