Biography of Mike Alexander

Mike Alexander, an American racing driver, was born on July 31, 1957, in Franklin, Tennessee. He began his racing career at the historic Nashville International Raceway, now known as Nashville Speedway USA, where he became a champion in 1978 and 1992. In 1983, Alexander participated in the NASCAR Weekly Series, driving Bobby Ray Jones' new race car, and emerged as the winner of the series. Later that year, he became the champion of the NASCAR Grand American championship, winning 31 out of 56 races in which he competed. Most of his victories were achieved in Nashville, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama, but he also raced in South Carolina and Florida.

On the national level, Alexander's career began in the Winston Cup Series. In 1980, he made his debut at the Music City 420 race, finishing in tenth place. In 1981, Alexander joined Bob Rogers's team for a part of the season and consistently finished in the top 15 in most races. In 1984, he competed in almost all of the first 22 races driving Dave Marcis's car but did not achieve much success. In 1985, Alexander represented the interests of 'Sims Brothers' and 'Sadler Brothers' companies for a part of the season. In 1988, he replaced the injured Bobby Allison in the 'Stavola Brothers' team and had an outstanding season, finishing in the top 10 in six out of 18 starts, including a third-place finish at the season finale at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

In 1989, Alexander suffered an injury during the 'Snowball Derby' race at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, which affected his performance when he drove for the 'Stavola Brothers' team at Daytona International Speedway. His last participation in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series was in the first seven races of the 1990 season for 'Bobby Allison Motorsports' team.

Aside from the Winston Cup Series, Alexander also competed in the Busch Series. In 1986, he partially participated in the series, but in 1987 and 1988, he completed full seasons. He achieved victories at Langley Speedway in Virginia in 1987 and Hickory Motor Speedway in 1988. Out of 71 starts in the Busch Series races, Alexander finished in the top 10 on 31 occasions.
