Early Life


Marselino Antonio "Miko" Karag Sotto III was born on May 10, 1982, in Manila, Philippines. He was the son of actress Ali Sotto and Marcelino "Maru" Sotto Jr. Miko came from a family that was deeply involved in show business. His mother, Ali Sotto, was an actress, while his father, Marcelino "Maru" Sotto Jr., was the brother of actor and comedian Vincent Sotto III, actor Val Sotto, and comedian Vic Sotto. Miko had an older brother, Marius Sotto, who was two years older than him, and a younger sister, Mara Isabelle Sotto, who was eight years younger than him.

Early Career


Miko was discovered by the talent agency "GMA Artist Center" and quickly became popular among teenagers in the Philippines. He spent much of his time working in television, appearing in youth-oriented programs on the GMA network. Some of his notable projects include the series "Click" and "Kahit Kailan." He also worked on the sets of the television shows "SOP" and "Walang Hanggan" and appeared in several films, such as the Filipino comedy "Bakit ba ganyan? (Ewan ko nga ba, Darling)" in 2000 with Dina Bonnevie and the comedy horror "Bahay ni Lola" in 2001. In 2003, Miko reunited with director Antonio Reyes for the fantasy action film "Fantastic Man."

Tragic Death


On December 29, 2003, tragedy struck when Miko fell from the ninth floor of a residential building in Mandaluyong City. He was accompanied by two friends, his cousin Oyo Boy Sotto and an assistant from San Francisco Garden Plaza. According to preliminary investigations, a security guard witnessed Miko sitting on the balcony railing, saying his goodbyes to his friends. As he attempted to climb down, his foot allegedly hit a potted plant, causing him to lose his balance and fall. Miko was immediately rushed to a nearby medical center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The attending physician stated that he died from multiple skull fractures.

Miko Sotto's untimely death shocked the Filipino entertainment industry, and he is still remembered as a talented and promising actor. Despite his short career, Miko left a lasting impact on the youth of the Philippines with his memorable performances on television and in films. His tragic fate serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
