Early Life and Career

Mindy Sterling was born in Paterson, New Jersey. Her family later moved to Miami, Florida where she spent her childhood. Growing up, Mindy was familiar with the stage as her mother was a ballet dancer and her father, Dick Sterling, was a popular actor and singer. At the age of 13, Mindy made her theatrical debut at the city theater in Miami, where she performed in Shakespeare plays. In the early 1970s, Mindy Sterling relocated to Los Angeles, hoping to find success in television. She began getting roles in children's TV shows, TV series, and movies from 1973 onwards, although these roles were minor.

Teaching at Groundlings

Throughout these years, Mindy Sterling worked as a teacher at the Groundlings acting school, where she taught many future stars. It was at Groundlings that Mindy met Mike Myers, who was impressed by her talents and offered her an audition for the role of Frau Farbissina in his parody comedy "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" (1997). The audition went extremely well, and finally, after 24 years of a somewhat struggling acting career, Mindy Sterling received an invitation to play a "real" role in a movie. This role brought her tremendous popularity. Mindy Sterling has been nominated for prestigious awards multiple times and will continue to play Frau Farbissina in the Austin Powers film series.

Later Career and Personal Life

In 1999, Mindy Sterling appeared in the film "Drop Dead Gorgeous". In the year 2000, she landed a role in the movie "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". She also appeared in the Disney show "That's So Raven". Mindy's acting success further continued with her role in the TV series "My Own Worst Enemy" in 2008.

In 1999, Mindy Sterling was diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing an intense course of chemotherapy, she successfully overcame the disease. Mindy Sterling is married to Brian Gadson, and they have a son named Max.
