Early Life and ChildhoodMichel Piccoli, a French actor, was born on December 27, 1925, in Paris. His father, Henri Piccoli, was a musician from Italian Switzerland who played stringed instruments. His mother, Marcelle Expert-Besançon, was a pianist and the daughter of Charles Expert-Besançon, an industrialist. Michel grew up in a family with left-wing views, which he adopted from a young age.

Michel's childhood was overshadowed by the death of his older brother, and he often felt lonely. To overcome his shyness, he decided to pursue a career in acting. He received training from Andre Bauer-Tero and later attended drama courses by René Simon in Paris.

Michel Piccoli was married twice. His first wife, actress Eleonora Hirt, was six years older than him, and they had a daughter named Anna-Cordelia. They divorced in 1965, and a year later, Piccoli married actress and singer Juliette Gréco. In 1978, he began a relationship with screenwriter Ludivine Clerc and adopted two children of Polish descent with her.
Death
Michel Piccoli passed away on May 12, 2020, at his home in the department of Eure in Normandy. He died from a stroke.
