Early Life and Education

Marguerite Long was a French pianist and music педагоgue born in Nîmes, France. She attended the Paris Conservatory, studying under Isidore Philipp and receiving the prestigious Prix Pagès as the best graduating student in five years. She furthered her studies with Alfred Cortot, Emil von Sauer in Vienna, and Raoul Koczalski in Berlin.

Concert Career

Long began her concert career in 1932, showcasing her virtuosic technique and musicality. She performed extensively throughout Europe and beyond, earning critical acclaim for her interpretations of Romantic and Impressionist repertoire.

Accident and Transition to Teaching

In 1966, Long suffered a broken arm in a car accident, which forced her to retire from her concert career at the height of her success. Devastated by this turn of events, she turned her focus to teaching at the Paris Conservatory.
