Early Life and Education
Mrunal Thakur was born on February 1, 1992, in Dhule, Maharashtra, India, to Udaysingh Bhatiasen Thakur, an Assistant General Manager at Union Bank of India, and Vandana, born in January 1971. She has an elder sister, Lochan, who is a makeup artist, and a younger brother, Mandar. Thakur received her primary education at St. Joseph's Convent School in Jalgaon and Vasant Vihar High School in Mumbai. She pursued a degree in Mass Media from Kishinchand Chellaram College, the alma mater of renowned Bollywood stars like Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She also holds a Bachelor of Technology degree.
Television Career
Thakur began her entertainment career as a television actress. Her debut role was in the drama series "Mukti Bandhan" on Star Plus from November 2012 to February 2013. She then played a journalist in the crime drama "Arjun" on the same channel from August 2012 to February 2014.
In 2014, Thakur signed a contract with Zee TV and starred in "Kumkum Bhagya." The series garnered critical acclaim, and Thakur played the role of Bulbul Arora, the third daughter of Supriya Shukla and Vijay Kashyap. She remained with the show until January 2016 but briefly returned in 2018.
Film Career
Thakur made her feature film debut in 2014 with "Surajya" and "Vitti Dandu." In 2017, she starred in the drama film "Love Sonia." She was chosen for the titular role after auditioning alongside over 2,000 other actresses. To prepare for the role of a village girl forced into prostitution, she visited brothels and studied the body language of sex workers.
Her Bollywood debut came in 2019 with "Super 30," a biographical film based on mathematician and educator Anand Kumar. She played the role of Supriya, a professional dancer and love interest of Hrithik Roshan's character. The same year, she starred in "Batla House," which was a commercial success.
Thakur appeared in the Netflix horror anthology "Ghost Stories" (2020) and the music video for "Gallan Goriya" with John Abraham. In 2021, she starred in the Amazon Prime Video sports drama "Toofaan," the Netflix series "Call My Agent: Bollywood," and the music videos for "Bad Boy x Bad Girl" and "Aise Na Chhoro."
Personal Life
Thakur is private about her personal life. She often shares photographs with friends, family, and co-stars on social media but refrains from posting about any potential romantic relationships.
She has been linked to screenwriter and music composer Sharad Chandra Tripathi and actor Kushal Tandon. However, Tandon denied the rumors, stating that they were only "soulmates and best friends."

In 2022, Thakur starred in the short film "Jahan" and the sports drama "Jersey" opposite Shahid Kapoor. She also has several upcoming projects lined up, including the family comedy "Blind," the web series "Baahubali: Before the Beginning," and the war film "Pippa."
