Biography of Nadezhda Advocate- Novikova
Nadezhda Advocate-Novikova is a successful businesswoman with a thriving career in the beauty industry. She recently opened a beauty salon in London for the renowned Italian brand Aldo Coppola. It is hard to believe that such a well-known name was absent in a city that houses all the leading names in the global beauty industry. However, that changed when Nadezhda Advocate-Novikova arrived in the city and opened the Aldo Coppola salon-spa-hairdresser.
Nadezhda Advocate-Novikova is not just a businesswoman; she also manages three flourishing flower shops in Moscow. She is married to Arkady Novikov, one of the most famous and wealthy businessmen in Russia, and they have two children together. Despite having a glamorous social life and the option to focus solely on being a wife and mother, Nadezhda chose a different path.
In London, Nadezhda decided to open her Aldo Coppola salon as a franchise of the Italian company. When asked why she chose this particular company, she explained that she had been a client of Aldo Coppola in Moscow for many years. She admired the Italian approach to beauty and appreciated their use of natural ingredients. Nadezhda was drawn to the comprehensive approach of the salon, where clients could receive high-quality hair, face, and body treatments all under one roof.
Nadezhda's initiative led to the introduction of new services in the London Aldo Coppola salon, including high-class spa treatments using Cellap, a Swiss laboratory's cell cosmetics. She personally tested and was satisfied with the results of this cosmetic line, making it her choice for the salon. Nadezhda believes in making decisions based on personal experience and feelings, and she hopes that what works for her will be effective for other women as well.
Nadezhda Advocate-Novikova's venture into the beauty industry is not her first business project. In Russia, she owns three flower shops. The idea to open these shops came about unexpectedly when a flower shop near their home in Rublevka went up for sale. Nadezhda had been a frequent customer at that shop and felt invested in who would take over the location. Her husband suggested that they buy the shop, and she jumped at the opportunity. Nadezhda's love for flowers and her finance degree from Plekhanov Institute made the venture a success.
The success of the first flower shop led to the opening of two more in Moscow. The second shop not only sold flowers but also accessories, gifts, and even furniture. Nadezhda personally curated the assortment for the shop by visiting exhibitions and selecting the items herself. The third shop, "Studio of Flowers 55," derived its name from the number of the house where it is located. The number 55 was chosen because of its aesthetic appeal.
Nadezhda Advocate-Novikova's introduction to her future husband, Arkady, happened during their university years, although they did not meet at the same institution. She attended the day division of Plekhanov Institute, while Arkady was enrolled in the evening division. They met at a gathering with mutual friends who also studied at Plekhanov Institute.
Nadezhda has often encountered comments suggesting that her success is solely due to her husband's fame as a restaurateur. She acknowledges that her husband provided the initial capital for her business but emphasizes that the success of the ventures is a result of her hard work and determination. While Arkady offers advice based on his extensive experience, Nadezhda is driven by her own vision for her company. She sees her husband's input as valuable, but ultimately, she wants to develop her business according to her own vision.
The idea to open an Aldo Coppola salon in London originated more from Arkady than from Nadezhda. When she first arrived in London, she had to overcome numerous challenges associated with moving to a new country and city. Opening an Aldo Coppola salon seemed like an overwhelming undertaking, but Arkady encouraged her not to miss such an opportunity. The journey turned out to be more challenging than expected, with construction, finding the right staff, and understanding the preferences of the local clientele posing significant hurdles. However, Nadezhda enjoys working with the international clientele, including Italians, French, Russians, English, and Australians. She finds it fascinating and rewarding.
Nadezhda's family's relocation to London began with her daughter's decision to study abroad. When her daughter expressed a desire to study in a foreign country during her teenage years, Nadezhda and her husband decided to explore the options. They visited Switzerland to see a friend's daughter studying there and then traveled to England. Nadezhda suggested exploring England as well, and her daughter eventually chose to study at the London School of Fashion, specializing in public relations. Nadezhda and her son joined her daughter in London in August of the following year, and they embarked on a journey of building a new life, including managing construction, finding a house, and enrolling her son in a traditional boys' school.
Nadezhda's son, who attends a highly traditional and academically rigorous boys' school, faced difficulties adjusting to the new environment. He works hard to meet the high standards set by the school and has developed a passion for illusionism. Nadezhda mentioned that her son has taken courses and studies various illusionist techniques. This interest was sparked after they attended a performance by an Italian illusionist who exhibited not only dexterity but also created a sense of wonder with his energy and showmanship.
In regards to their business in London, Nadezhda confessed that they initially focused on settling their children into their new lives. However, with her son attending school during the day, she found herself with spare time and did not want to sit idle. The decision to start a business in London happened naturally. Arkady is currently preparing to open a restaurant on Berkeley Street in Mayfair.
As for the future of their Aldo Coppola salon, Nadezhda plans to open additional locations as per the franchise agreement. She aims to cater to the preferences and interests of the local clientele and hopes to determine what will be successful through trial and error.
