Early Life and Education

Nancy Tellem was born in December 1953 in Danville, California. From a young age, she aspired to pursue a career in politics. After graduating from the University of California, Tellem traveled to Capitol Hill to serve as a summer intern for Congressman Ron Dellums. The following year, she enrolled in law school in San Francisco, graduating and securing a position in the legal department of Lorimar Television, a successful television company in the 1980s.

Legal Career and Rise at Warner Bros.

When Lorimar merged with Warner Bros., Tellem continued her role and eventually caught the attention of Les Moonves. Under Moonves' guidance, she became Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs. When Moonves assumed the presidency of CBS Entertainment in 1995, Nancy followed suit, adding President of CBS Productions to her resume.

Three years later, Moonves became President of CBS, and Tellem succeeded him as both President and President of Entertainment.
