Biography of Nasser Yussef

Nasser Yussef, also known by his party pseudonym Mustafa Salem al-Bishawi, was born in 1943 in the village of Jisr al-Mujammaa, in what is now northern Israel. Following the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948, his family became refugees and traveled throughout Arab countries. Yussef himself had to live in Jordan, Tunisia, and several European states.

Yussef gained a wealth of experience in the field of intelligence work, as he participated in "all the battles of the Palestinian revolution," according to Palestinian sources. He received military education in the Soviet Union and China, further enhancing his expertise.

One of the founders of the Fatah movement and a member of its Central Committee, Yussef was appointed as the Minister of Interior of the Palestinian Authority. In 1994, he was entrusted with the overall leadership of the Palestinian security services.

In the past, Yussef was a close associate of Yasser Arafat, but their relationship deteriorated a few years ago due to criticism the general directed towards the Palestinian leader, labeling him as "an obstacle to the realization of the Palestinian dream for independence." However, they managed to overcome their differences.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, a cabinet meeting was held on October 9th. It is worth noting that this government will be temporary and will last only for a month.
