Natalia Drigant: A Biography of a Fashion Designer
Natalia Drigant is a fashion designer and a graduate of the prestigious French school "ESMOD" with a specialization in Haute Couture. During her studies, she had the opportunity to intern at renowned fashion houses such as "Nina Ricci" and "Torrente." However, what sets her apart is being the only graduate of "ESMOD" to secure a year-long internship at the famed "Christian Dior" House.
Philosophy and Vision
Natalia Drigant's philosophy behind her clothing collections is to create a unified paradigm that combines different styles and cultures without compromising their individuality or diluting them into mainstream pop culture. Her vision is inspired by the idea of cultural diversity and communication between nations, forming the foundation of modern civilization.
Early Years and Education
In 1991, Natalia began her fashion journey at the Textile Academy named after Kosygin, coinciding with her strong desire to become a fashion designer. Her professional career took off shortly after completing her education in France. She earned her first diploma specializing in Haute Couture from the "ESMOD" school, which was evaluated and recognized by a prestigious jury consisting of former graduates such as Paco Rabanne and Ted Lapidus, with the latter serving as the jury's chairman. Simultaneously, Natalia won the Bordeaux Jeune Createurs competition and represented France at the Paris International de Chambre Sindical Jeune Createurs, while eagerly awaiting a response from "Christian Dior" to her resume. To her delight, she received congratulations on her victory along with a year-long contract with the house.
Return to Moscow and Establishing "ND"
In 1997, Natalia returned to Moscow, facing significant changes and the challenges of adapting to an unfamiliar city. She embarked on a two-year search for work in her field, facing rejection from various fashion houses, including one on Kuznetsky Most, who believed her portfolio indicated the need for independent work. Despite the challenges, Natalia's determination to pursue her passion for fashion prevailed, and she registered the trademark "ND."
Breakthrough and Success
In 1999, Natalia made her breakthrough by presenting her first collection at the Kremlin, featuring ballet-inspired models. The collection showcased the grace and fluidity of ballet movements. Astonishingly, the entire collection was sold out within record time at the Sadko Arkada boutique. The following year, she showcased her collection at the Danilov Monastery, supported by the blessings of the Patriarch. Although initially worried about the weather due to an impending downpour, the event took place under beautiful skies, only to be followed by heavy rain immediately after the show. Finally, Natalia achieved her dream of participating in the High Fashion Week with her "Haute Couture" collection.
Continued Innovations and Recognition
In 2001, Natalia presented her collection "Philosophy of Success" at the Hotel Marriott in Moscow. Despite financial constraints, Natalia managed to create a collection she deemed successful. The following year, she experimented with incorporating scent into her designs, showcasing the "Parfumer" collection at the Bolshoi Theatre. In 2002, Natalia established her fashion house, "ND," on Myasnitskaya Street 40A, marking the end of her struggles with French bureaucracy and a transition towards incorporating Russian themes.
Versatility and Russian Fashion Week
Throughout her career, Natalia continued to push boundaries and explore different facets of fashion. In 2003, she presented the collection "Megapolis II" at the Center for Arts by Zurab Tsereteli during the Russian Fashion Week. She also participated in the High Fashion Week with her collection "Paradigma ND." In 2004, Natalia showcased her collection "Siberia" at the Moscow Fashion Week.
International Recognition
In 2005, Natalia's talents were recognized internationally as she presented her new collection for the fall-winter season at RFW in Moscow. Her refined and timeless collection, titled "Classics," received accolades and was showcased in France at "Monosex" in Paris and at MFW.
Throughout her career, Natalia Drigant has consistently demonstrated her passion for fashion, innovative thinking, and commitment to creating unique collections that celebrate diversity and cultural exchange.
