Tigran Davtyan: Armenian Economist and Statesman
Early Life and EducationTigran Davtyan was born in Armenia and pursued higher education at the Yerevan State Institute of National Economy (1988-1993), graduating with a degree in macroeconomic planning. He later continued his studies as an aspirant in the Macroeconomic Department (1993-1995).
Career in the Armenian Government
1993-1994:Davtyan held the position of Chief Expert at the Permanent Commission on Social and Health Issues of the Supreme Council of Armenia.
1994-1995:He became an Assistant to the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia.
1995-1996:Davtyan was appointed as the Head of the Department of Monetary and Credit Policy at the Central Bank of Armenia.
1996-2001:He became a member of the Council of the Central Bank of Armenia.
2001-2003:Davtyan served as an Advisor to the Executive Director representing the Dutch Group at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which included Armenia.
2003-2007:He returned to Armenia as an Advisor to the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia and, from 2005, acted as the Head of the Financial Monitoring Center.
2007-2008:Davtyan was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry of Armenia.
April 2008 - December 2010:He served as Minister of Economy of Armenia.
Post-Ministerial Career
Since December 2010, Tigran Davtyan has held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia.
