Early Life and Formative ExperiencesNick Hornby was born on April 17, 1957, in Redhill, Surrey, England. His parents' divorce when he was 11 left a profound impact on him, leading him to seek solace in football and becoming an avid Arsenal supporter. Educational and Early Career
After graduating from Maidenhead Grammar School, Hornby pursued English literature at Cambridge University. Upon graduating, he taught English, including to foreign students, at his alma mater. In 1983, he embarked on a career as a writer and journalist.

Hornby's novels often explore themes of contemporary popular culture, featuring young characters navigating aimless lives. Several of his works, including "Fever Pitch," "High Fidelity," and "About a Boy," have been adapted into popular films.
Personal Life and Philanthropy
Hornby currently resides in Highbury, North London, conveniently located near Arsenal's stadium. He married Virginia Bovell in 1993, and they welcomed a son, Danny, who was diagnosed with autism. This experience inspired Hornby's involvement with Tree House, a charity supporting children with autism, to which he donated a significant portion of the proceeds from his anthology "Speaking with the Angel."
